Another fine chapter this week. So Masaki was not afraid even as she tumbled down a dark, lonely hole. She felt someone was looking for her, presumably someone she trusted. Could it be Isshin and Masaki already shared a bond? The hollow face she drifts towards is clearly Ichigo's future mask, somewhat unformed. The image of her floating closer and closer to its gaping maw is powerful and disturbing.
So Urahara and Isshin were not contemporaries. Interesting. I see others are already trying to fit this into the timeline of events. I was glad to see the origins of the vaizard explained. In order to prevent the individual from committing "Soul Suicide", balance must be restored through artificial means. Quincy energy to counterbalance shingami, human to counter hollow. This explains how Ichigo can be the only natural vaizard in existence. He did not need to have quincy or human energy introduced to counter the hollow and shinigami sides. He was born with all the elements necessary to create that balance as part of his birthright.
If I had any doubts about Ryuuken's true feelings towards Masaki, the last two chapters have certainly changed my mind. This man clearly is in love. He may have been hiding it, thinking it would make things easier for Masaki if she didn't have to deal with unrequited love on top of her practically being forced into an arranged marriage based on her status and bloodline. Now, with her unconscious and on the verge of damnation, we see the real Ryuuken emerge. We know they do not end up together. He must have been very strong to let the woman he loved go her own way. I hope they at least stayed good friends throughout her life.
Kubo is really showing us things in a whole new light and making us see things from a completely different angle. We knew Isshin and Masaki loved each other and raised a happy family together. We never knew they shared this kind of bond. Isshin gave up everything in a heartbeat to keep her alive and human. True, he is a heroic man, and as he said, if he refused, he wouldn't be able to look himself in the mirror the next day. What would be the difference between this and dying to protect someone? Still, giving up all of his power, becoming a normal human who can't even sense hollows for decades is a huge sacrifice. I think he was motivated by a little more than a heroic impulse. Now their souls are quite literally bound together. How many people can say that? They had a good introduction, both very impressed with each other and thinking about each other. The obviously like each other. Now, they are bound together for life. I guess it's a good thing that initial attraction bloomed into a deep, true love.

Time Flies
Holy cow, it's been FOUR MONTHS since I submitted anything? It only feels like a couple of weeks. These six day work weeks are killing me. Now that it's cooling down, this concrete sweat box I'm renting is a little more bearable. I'm going to try and force myself to do more. I have to say the ending of Bleach got me pretty upset. I'm still not happy about it. I know the series had been in the ratings basement for years now and deserved it, but what a terrible way to end a long running series that had such a promising start.
On thing I am grateful for in that last arc is the revelation that Nemu had a childhood. Since we ended on a ten
What's going on?
"Can't help but notice you're doing a lot of ahem 'one-handed typing' these days old chap." My hypothetical visitor observes.
Yes, I know. I always intend to start up my old story lines again and I always find reasons to put it off for later. I'm working two jobs now to make ends meet, my effort to reunite my family failed, again, and it looks like I'm going to have to move, again. This is not what I was promised when I relocated here. Unfortunately with the price of oil low, fracking doesn't pay, so there are now a lot of unemployed ex-oilmen. And with no oil flowing, there's no need to run so many trains, so there's a lot of unemploye
City Carrier Assistant
Well this post office position hasn't turned out to be the geared-down, more-relaxed job I was hoping for. Starting when the regular carriers took their summer vacations, I was running myself ragged literally. Sure they said you would be walking 10-12 miles a day, but they didn't mention the pace. You have to pretty much power stride or even jog from house to house to make sure you get your route done on time. Combine that with the summer heat and by the end of the day I feel like a dried out frog. But you know what? For the first time in years, I don't stay up all night dreading going to work the next day. Sure I'm paid substantially
Laptop broke
OK, I swear I was working on the next chapter of Nemu's Trials when my beat up old laptop died on me. Instead of just taking it to a random repair shop, I figured I'd try Best Buy's Geek Squad. I dropped it off April 29th and it's still not fixed. I called yesterday and they said it was because I had not approved the repairs. The week before, I called the 1-800 number when I got the e-mail and did just that. Seems like communications are a little spotty for them. The web site they referred me to still shows they have not worked on it.
I could buy a new laptop. if Windows 9 is any good, I might just buy it. However, all of my stuff in
